1. Each high
school coach can certify their kids for district competition by going to www.bowl.com/highschool and
registering their school and students. This allows them to receive an award for
honor scores should they shoot one.
2. Registering
the kids on this site covers the entire high school season, which would include
any post-season competition beyond the district level.
3. The $5 Basic membership, at this time, does
not cover high school bowling.
4. If a
student is already certified through a "normal" USBC youth league,
they still must be registered through the above web site to get an honor score
award if they shoot one in high school competition.
5. We encourage each school coach to register their school and students under
your free certification program. What does that entitle the kids to? The USBC High School Team Program entitles
the bowlers to honor score awards, Baker 300 award, nomination/application to
the Dexter/USBC High school All-American Team and one issue of the Youth Bowler
magazine. For the coaches we offer discounts on Dexter shoes, nomination of
their athletes to the Dexter/USBC All-American Team and discount on the
Fundamentals of Team Coaching certification class by USBC Coaching.
6. Is there any correlation between the
High School program and the new $5.00 membership fee program? At this time there is no correlation
between the High School membership and ANY paid USBC membership, including the
$5 basic membership.
7. What awards are available to kids
from the schools that do certify? We
offer Baker 300 award, 298, 299 and 300 game awards along with 700 and 800
series awards.
8. If a student is already a fully paid
USBC youth member and they shoot a score during high school competition that
would entitle them to a youth award, could they get it if their school did not
certify them under the High School program?
The only way they would earn the USBC Youth award is if the competition was
also USBC certified. If it is not, even if they are USBC Youth members, they
would not earn the traditional awards.
9. If a student shoots a score during
district play that would qualify for an award, what is the process of applying
for and receiving that award? The coach
would log on to his/her schools account online and click on the Award tab and
follow the prompts of adding a new award. The award would then be processed and
shipped to the coach.
10. Is there a USBC High School lapel
pin? If so, is it available and is it something they would purchase directly
from USBC? We do have lapel pins and
they can be purchased through the USBC store on bowl.com. They are $20 for a
pack of 10 and are not sold separately.
11. Is district competition certified
or does it depend on whether the schools involved have certified their kids? Competition is not automatically
certified. You must certify each competition either as a tournament or league,
if you do this than EVERY bowler would have to become a USBC Youth member. The
free High School membership is non-transferable to any traditional
certification.
12. We have regional advancement tournaments for both team and singles. Team competition at regional is all Baker format. Can/should that be certified and, if so, how do we accomplish that. We will have 10 regionals this year. The singles regional tournament will be 5 games across 10 lanes. Same question on certification? You can certify all your post-season tournaments through our online Tournament Certification program which can be found through the USBC Rules department.
