Cove Sweeps Roos

The Copperas Cove Bulldawgs swept the Killeen Kangaroos Monday at Killeen Bowlerama. Louis Barragan averaged 240 to again lead the Dawgs to a 17-0 shutout of the Roos. Zach Stewart averaged 207 the the Dawgs, who raised their district record to 4-1. Mitchell Salak and Seth Rockwell both averaged over 195 to lead Killeen (2-3).

The Lady Dawgs narrowly edged the Lady Roos 10-7. Cove, led by Brittney Wehmeier, took a 4-3 lead after match play. The teams then alternated wins in the team games with Cove taking total pins by just 8 for the victory. Cove stands at 2-3 in district play. Alexis Homes led the Lady Roos (1-4).

Lady Knights Upset Ellison

It was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Harker Heights Lady Knights. On Tuesday at Killeen Bowlerama, the Lady Knights roared back from a 6-1 deficit to upset Ellison’s Lady Eagles 9-8 to remain undefeated and take the district lead. Behind Cindy Gill, Devin Revels and Brittany Evans, Ellison seemed to be in command after match play. But Heights averaged 183 to take 3 of the 4 team games and win total pins by 69 for the upset. Carrie Wiggins and Katie Truhitte led Heights (5-0) in scoring. The Lady Eagles fell to 2nd place at 4-1.

The Knights also stayed perfect (5-0) with a 12-5 win over Ellison in a match closer than the final score indicated. Heights took a 6-1 lead after match play behind Adarius Stanford (247 average). Ellison came back to trail 6-5 by winning the first two team games. But the Knights averaged 206 to take the final two games and salvage total pins by just 36. Drake Revels averaged 223 and Anthony Morales 205 to lead the Eagles, who fell to 3-2.
