BPAA Net News March 2007

BPAA Net News...FLASH!!! (March 16, 2007) Sponsored by Pepsi-Cola, official soft drink of bowling

>> The BPAA recognizes that risk and legal management are an important part of our member's overall safely program and business. To that effect, BPAA will be sending all members FREE safety signs this week. We will automatically send these signs to all of our members so there is no need to place an order. However, if you have your own signs or simply do not want these FREE signs, please be kind enough to let us know so we do not waste monies in sending them.

>> The BPAA has signed a Smart Buy deal with Orange Tree Employment Screening. The partnership offers BPAA members a comprehensive background screen on employees or potential hires. This program does not replace the USBC Registered Volunteer Program as that is a different program all together. However, the new partnership, which is complimentary to USBC’s RVP does offer a great discount to BPAA members on those background screens that are not related to the USBC program.

>> Rolf Anderson, Winner of the Bev Com promotional Sweepstakes, will bowl to win $25,000 on March 18th at the PBA Pepsi Championship at Jim Doty's center Woodland Bowl in Indianapolis, IN. Mr., Anderson purchased his PBA Collectible Cup at Pete Tountas's center Golden Pin Lanes in Tucson, AZ. The PBA-Pepsi Championship will be aired on ESPN 12:30 pm EST/11:30am Central.

>> Upcoming Dates for BPAA Management School – which has had rave reviews for the first two schools: Atlanta – June 3-9, 2007, Chicago - October 21 - 27, 2007, Arlington - March 2 - 8, 2008, Denver - June 1 - 7, 2008. The 1st two schools sold out; mark your calendar and enroll now if interested.

>> www.gobowling.com has added a new feature. Go to the website and click on High Roller Award. You type in name, game score, bowling center, date, and you have a nice certificate in color that you can print right to your printer. Great for kids’ high game scores!

>> New at Bowl Expo 2007: A Thurs. morning Breakfast with Industry Leaders. It’s free with registration with good food and good info. Bring hunger and questions. Bowl Expo is scheduled for June 24-28, 2007 in Las Vegas.

>> Pro Shop Operator was selected as Best New Launch at the recent Niche Magazine Conference in Austin, Texas. The conference was attended by nearly 200 magazine publishers and media experts, and the magazine was among more than 100 represented titles at the conference. Is your pro shop an IBPSIA member? >> BPAC, our political action fund, is again soliciting the annual donations to keep bowling top of mind in our nation’s capital. Being in business, you are in politics, like it or not. Please consider donating for your business sake. Click or cut/paste this link to access contribution forms:

>> Is Bowling a Sport? Of course. Consider, within the course of a 42-game tournament, players will lift more than five tons, carrying it for a total of two miles while projecting their ball more than 700 times at an average speed of 17 miles per hour at a target 60 feet away.

This is an exclusive benefit for BPAA member bowling centers. Please submit any information for inclusion to bpaanetnews_flash@bpaa.com . If you would like to be removed from future e-mails, please e-mail bpaanetnews_flash@bpaa.com . Visit www.bpaa.com for additional BPAA-related information.
